Inchon Landings
"[I] watched for an hour the pitiful evidence of the disaster I had inherited. In that brief interval on the blood-soaked hill, I formulated my plans. I would rely upon strategic maneuver to overcome the great odds against me."
-General MacArthur

On July 23, General MacArthur planned an amphibious landing at the port city of Inchon. Other generals were skeptical of MacArthur's plan because of the artificial and natural defenses at Inchon such as very tall seawalls that surrounded the harbor and a tide difference of 30 feet. There were other cities, but Inchon was chosen because it was unexpected and attacking Inchon would cut the North Korean supply chain.
